This course is an introductory and pilot course intended for undergraduate students who are interested in the profession of pharmacy, regardless of previous experience in the profession. It is formatted to prepare junior students for future advanced pharmacy programs. Whether you are considering pharmacy as a potential career path or are just interested in the subject, this course will open your eyes to the exciting profession of pharmacy. This course is designed to help you understand: 1) the brief history and frontier of pharmacy; 2) basic concepts and branches of pharmacy with a particular focus on medicinal chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical analysis, and pharmaceutical regulatory affairs; 3) evolving scope of practice and career opportunities, ethical standards of the occupation. Students will be totally competent to identify their career interests and fulfill the responsibilities of progressive pharmacy practitoners and researchers to lead the evolution of healthcare. It will enable you to fully grasp the scope of pharmacy practice and decide on your career direction early as pharmacy technician in the curriculum.
